TRAILER: Paranormal Activity 4

Please ... stop making them....

I liked the first one, hated the second, could deal with the third but this looks the most awful of them all. Using webcams and stuff, it's about the neighbours of the family at Paranormal Activity 2. Something to do with a kid. Who knows? In any case it will be shockingly bad, I can feel it, like a bad presence.

In my pants.

It's the same directors as number 3 (who also did Catfish) so you never know, they might do something with it.

But anyway, here's the trailer if you don't believe me:

TRAILER: Cloud Atlas

So firstly, the Wachowski brothers are back. Wait, brothers? Well Larry is now Lana and had a proper full on sex change. So ... Lana and Andy Wachowski. Oh and there's a third director - Run Lola Run's Tom Tykwer. This is based on David Mitchell's novel and is a bit like The Fountain, in that it's the same characters through past, present and future and the future looks pretty amazing. To announce the film, a 5 minute trailer has been released because it looks pretty epic and a bit mad. But I love that. Nothing quite like ambition and why not? Take a look below and I'd be interested in what people think

TRAILER: Pingu's The Thing

Do you like John Carpenter's The Thing? It's one of my favourite ever films, and apart from perhaps Die Hard it's the film I've seen the most number of times. In any case, here's what would have happened if the events of The Thing would have occurred within the world of Pingu.

TRAILER: The Devil Inside

The Devil Inside carries on from classic Exorcism films, but with a lot of 'docu' style horrors being all the rage, can this one set itself apart? What do you guys think? I like the twisted up-ness at least!

NEWS: The Thing Trailer Released

<a href="http://http%3A%2F%2Fmovies.msn.com%2Fmovies%2Fmovie-trailers%2F%23%2Fvideo%2Ff749b83d-e1d0-4983-a918-a9c3914b03c0" target="_new" title="&#39;The Thing&#39; Movie Trailer">Video: &#39;The Thing&#39; Movie Trailer</a>

Oh dear. The remake of The Thing is on it's way and it looks pretty awful. This is supposed to be a prequel, but it's clearly set now and my only hope is that it might end with two uninfected guys trying to shoot a dog from a helicopter (which is how the original Thing kind of opens).
People forget that we don't want an 'origins' - I loved the idea in Carpenter's original that something has already happened, that we've jumped in halfway through an event. Why do we need something to ruin all that? Anyway, I'll probably watch it and hate it. I hate it already from this trailer which changes nothing except clearly has a worse story and looks more 'jumpy' rather than a slow-burn.
What's with all these paranoia based films? It's like McCarthy 'reds in the beds' all over again.

Does anyone remember the game either?

NEWS: Soderbergh's Contagion Trailer

Matt Damon puts on his serious rubber face again as he stars in what looks like a remake of that Dustin Hoffman movie Outbreak based on that Michael Crichton book. It's only towards the end when we see it a bit post-apocalyptic that it starts looking good. This shows a lot of promise but I'm still to go through a whole Matt Damon film without looking at his wooden face and wishing he'd just go away. Yes that includes the Bourne films as well. What do you think?

NEWS: Pixar's 'John Carter' Trailer Released

Pixar have put down their toys and now want to be all grown up and make a sci-fi action blockbuster. So they've decided on a story about a civil war soldier getting sent to another planet to be some kind of hero against aliens or something. Apparently the trailer has caused quite a stir but I think it looks awful. It's like He-Man has walked into the Stargate and come out with a worse name. I'm not a big fan of this but I guess it might be ok....? It's a bit different from Wall-E though.

NEWS: Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

This has to be the strangest poster ever.

Imagine a world without Planet of the Apes, not just the Tim Burton monstrosity, but without the entire saga. Now imagine an industry executive sitting in his big leather chair, smoking a huge cigar and guffawing about how much money he's making. In comes a sprightly young lad
 "I have an idea"
"Well go ahead kid, that's what I pay you for!"
"A world where apes get super smart and take over the world."
"What will we call it son?"
"Rise of The Planet Of The Apes"
"I love it! What's the poster like?"
"It's a city burning in the background, but really it's just a big monkey with his fist in the air with loads of monkeys behind him"
"Sold."

Somehow I couldn't imagine anyone thinking that this poster is a good idea. It completely lacks integrity, imagination and just looks stupid. Are these attributes going to apply to the film? Probably.

The trailer looks interesting, but 'interesting' in that I don't know what it's supposed to be. The end sequences with apes wreaking havoc look like Jumanji and I can't imagine this film offering anything new. James Franco might be leading the way but Rupert Wyatt really only has The Escapist to his name, which didn't do amazingly well but was supposed to be good. What do you guys think? Excited at all? Do you like the poster?

NEWS: Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 8 Coming Soon

Thanks to my fellow Curb buddy Ben, he made me aware of this nice little preview of Season 8 of Curb. Perhaps the best comedy series on TV - with Gervais and more importantly Michael J Fox taking the piss out of his condition! And why the hell shouldn't he? Have a look and tell us what you think.

NEWS: Thundercats Are Back!

Thundercats are on the loose and look really ... really ... crap. In a strange way they look a bit Final Fantasy Japanimation-ish but let's wait and see. The trailer offers up something a bit different and the original Lion-o voice will cameo. I quite like the trailer, especially the epic music, but the actual characters just look a bit shoddy in my opinion. Hopefully it'll be a bit darker and perhaps some lessons were learnt after Naruto has taken over half the world. Look out for it on Cartoon Network!

NEWS: Dead Island To Be A Movie After Success Of Trailer

Days after Dead Isand's incredible trailer was released, the film rights have already been snapped up based purely on the short clip featured here a couple of days ago.

That's right. If you haven't seen the trailer already click here to see it - as it is incredible and almost brought me to a tear! The slow-mo parallel narrative that the online community are comparing to 'Lost' is a heart-wrenching, haunting couple of minutes promoting the forthcoming Dead Island game, a sandbox RPG shooter set on a zombie infested tropical paradise.

Now we hear that Sean Daniel who has worked on, well, not the best movies ('The Wolfman', 'The Mummy')  has bought the rights with his new Sean Daniel Company (egotistical much?). Game producers Techland are running to the bank laughing, and they've not even released the game yet! I'm struggling to think of another example of movie rights being bought for a game before release - I don't think it's happened. Anyone else think of anything?

NEWS: Teaser Trailer for Dead Island Released

My friend Simon just showed me this and I have to say it's incredible. It is clearly trying to stay away from the Dead Rising-esque splatterfest usually associated with zombies and give it a bit more heart. The score is haunting and the double narrative here is wonderful, telling a story backwards yet forwards in such a fashion would make the most accomplished of commercial directors blush. Don't dismiss it as a video game trailer because it works on a number of levels and you'll miss out.
It also reminds me a bit of Lost, anyone agree?

LA Noire Debut Trailer Released

Rockstar have released the debut trailer for upcoming game LA Noire and yes, it's a film noir type story set against LA - how could you guess? You might recognise some faces including Mad Men's Aaron Staton. As you can see, the facial movements is something that is far superior to what we're seeing in today's games so this looks likely to be one of the biggest games of next year. Will keep you updated as and when.
